The Planning for Real Unit recently completed work on a project to develop a Town Plan for Pershore. The Unit provided support to the Steering Group, set up by the Pershore Town Council, made up of local resident volunteers and with a minority representation from the Council. The Steering Group worked tirelessly over a 12 month period creating an overall Vision, Theme Visions, setting Priorities, and developing an Action Plan. The use of a large plan of Pershore, mounted onto polystyrene, and colour coded flags at the consultation events was an approach welcomed by the 1,000 residents, of all ages, who participated. The wealth of information gathered enabled the Theme Group Leaders, their Group Members, and stakeholders to understand needs, concerns, and opportunities and provided a firm base from which to develop, through follow up meetings and workshops, their individual Theme Action Plans. The Town Plan was produced and has been adopted by the Town Council.
